How did we end up boarding 12 strangers in a helicopter to fly over Sardinia's most exclusive area without any consent?
This is just the beginning of our story, we’ll take you only few minutes of your time, but it’s worth it:

What are we doing?

If you found this page is because you’re looking for something, you already decided to be a digital nomad or your in the process of it.

Maybe you are a seasoned nomad or just a fresh new remote worker. In any case let me tell you the following: finding the right company while traveling is not easy.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of amazing people out there, but they don’t appear as a pin in Google Maps, you need to find a way to attract them, and build a real connection.

Sometimes a coliving is the answers, you book a room, and you have instant friends and you can hangout with them for the length of your staying, other times is not that easy.

Digital nomads come out with other ways to meet people, meetups, dinners at restaurants, skill-share you name it.

We’ve been in plenty of this, it does not work.

If you’re still reading, I know who you are. You’re sick of it. You want something different. You want a real connection, real human being that are struggling with life like you, that are looking for adventure, for travels, for new experiences.

Maybe instead you don’t even know who are you looking for, i’ve been there.

Life and work are so confusing and full of inputs that it’s hard to find the right signal between all this noise.

We think about this every day, this has been our only struggling in years of traveling.

The only answer that we could give to ourselves is Pasta Casa Basilico.

How everything started

It is not a secred Ponta do Sol in Madeira island is where many things started for many of us. It is a magical place and Casa Basilico is one of the fruit of this amazing place

The kitchen is where everything starts, Fabio loves to cook to break the ice, Juls is the perfect community manager, she knows how to gather people around the table.

At the beginning not everyone understood why a random Italian is cooking for everyone every day, but few bottles of wine later the reason is clear:

You should stop eating together and start cooking together.

Building a real connection does not happen with small talk. I don’t care about your nationality, your passport. I don’t care about your job position, how much power you have, your salary.

What I want to know it’s if you break spaghetti or not.

I want to know what are your values. I want to know what shapes you as a human, and what drives you to keep this lifestyle. I want to know your failures, your fears, and your reasons to be proud of yourself.

We are nomads, we don’t have time to talk about the weather in Edinburgh, how boring is the old technology your corporate company is using.

I want to connect now with you. I want to understand now if we are going to be friends. I want to start to have true experiences and memories with you. I don’t want to go to a restaurant. I want to share a kitchen, chop onions, grate cheese, and make a mess with hard-to-find exotic ingredients.

This is what was happening, from 7 people in the house we become 20, then 30.

Then we tried in other places, Capo Verde, Brazil, it works every time. Some friends start to say to us, this is different, you guys should open a Coliving, connect more people. And this is how our bet as started.
Who we Are

We are Casa Basilico

In Madeira, September 2022, the island was a melting pot of Digital Nomads craving to meet each other, we remember that in that period this mantra was everywhere: Be a Giver, not a Taker.

This is at the very root of Casa Basilico, we give so much to the community, cooking the whole night for so many people, skipping sleep to organize activities, but this doesn't matter, we alway got back more, in terms of Love, community, Friendship, this warmth feeling of Family that makes us craving for more adventures to share together.

If you join Casa Basilico be a Giver, this is the best way to create community.
01

02

Be the Support You Seek

In our Casa, everyone has a role in lifting each other up. Keep an eye out for opportunities to lend a hand or share a word of encouragement. Remember, in our community, we thrive by ensuring we've all got each other's backs.
03

Engage and Enrich Our Community

Our collective spirit is the heartbeat of Casa Basilico. Participation is key—consider what unique gifts you can offer to make our community even more vibrant. Whether it's your time, skills, or simply your presence, every contribution enriches us all.
This is your chance to grow in both your personal and professional life, finding your friends, your travel buddies, your business partner or your next digital nomad job.

At Casa Basilico, food is just an excuse. It's our way of gathering people together, doing something fun for hours (yes, when Fabio decides to cook ragu, he takes a day off and cooks for the entire day - it's an experience).

We live all over the world, we support each other in achieving our missions, and we travel together as we work remotely. Our community thrives on spontaneity, unpredictability, and the joy of shared culinary adventures.
